Morning: Departure from Marrakech
Pickup is typically between 7:30 and 8:30 AM for the roughly 3-hour drive northeast into the Middle Atlas, passing through olive-growing villages and increasingly green, hilly terrain as you leave the plains behind.
Midday: Arrival and the Descent to the Falls
From the parking area, a network of paths and viewpoints leads down into the gorge. The upper viewpoints give a full, sweeping view of all three cascades dropping through the rock face; the lower path continues down through olive terraces to the pools at the base, where the spray and noise of the falls are close enough to feel. Wild Barbary macaques are frequently spotted along the olive trees lining the path — an unexpected highlight for many visitors.
Midday: Optional Boat Ride
At the base of the falls, local boatmen offer short rides in traditional wooden boats out toward the waterfall itself, getting close enough to feel the spray. It's optional and paid locally, but a popular add-on for photos and the cooling mist on a hot day.
Afternoon: Lunch with a View
Several terrace restaurants sit directly across the gorge from the falls, serving tagines, salads, and grilled dishes with the cascades as a backdrop — widely considered one of the best lunch views in the region.
Late Afternoon: Return to Marrakech
